Coast Works Overview

The Coast Works initiative has been established by The Nature Conservancy, in collaboration with the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship.

The Emerald Edge

The competition is part of the The Nature Conservancy’s Emerald Edge initiative, which is exploring entrepreneurship and economic development as a strategy for durable conservation in the coastal rain forests of Washington, British Columbia and Southeast Alaska. It is open to emerging entrepreneurs and small business owners working to start or grow triple-bottom-line businesses in coastal communities of Wahkiakum, Pacific, Grays Harbor, Jefferson and Clallam Counties.

Triple Win: Economic, Social and Environmental

The competition is designed to diversify the local economy through the development of new small businesses, build business leadership in local communities, grow a constituency that supports conservation and sustainable natural resource use, and ultimately contribute to a new vision of sustainable community and economic development on the Washington Coast.
